Nowadays, Jussie Smollett is often known for his acting credit as Jamal Lyon in the hit FOX television show, Empire. He was initially paid only $35,000 per episode, but it was increased to $65,000. In 2019, his highest pay reached $100,000 per episode, but he was placed on leave.

His acting career started when he was still a kid, although his first roles were only as an extra for movies like Mo’ Better Blues and New Jack City. After a few more acting gigs, Smollett finally got the chance to star in more significant roles in films such as The Mighty Ducks, North, The Skinny, and Ask Me Anything. The 38-year-old actor is also an avid photographer and a talented singer. Outside of the entertainment industry, however, Smollett has also dabbled in the real estate business. In 2016, he bought a home in Los Angeles for $1.6 million but later sold it in 2019. Unfortunately, the actor suffered a financial loss of $30,000 from that move.
